Berwick from Carr Rock, 1799 Ref: BRO 1637/08
In Berwick, the built environment provides us with a wonderful insight into the history of the town at different periods. Many of its structures are iconic and define the essence of the town. These include the three bridges, Town Hall, Parish Church, Barracks and the Tudor and Medieval fortifications. They have created a unique place which is neither English nor Scottish but has a character of its own.
