Fisherman's passes from World War 1
Image Reference: BRO 0010
These two images show fisherman's passes from World War 1. Passes with photographs were issued to individuals in Berwick who needed access to the coast around Berwick during the First World War because there was a risk of invasion from the North Sea.
James Lyall and James Binnie were issued with passes permitting them to proceed on to the Foreshore at any point between the Mouth of the River Tweed and Marshall Meadows at all times, in pursuit of their ordinary occupation of Fishermen, except when forbidden by orders of His Majesty’s Military or Naval Authorities.
