On 11 January 1895, an article appeared in the Berwick Advertiser which stated that the FANNY DURANT had been run down by a large steamer about 11 miles from Berwick. The three crew were rescued by the steamship IERANON and taken to Leith, near Edinburgh. The ship sunk within a few minutes.
