Image Reference: EP 59/15

These two pages of the Bamburgh parish burial register list four victims of the wreck of the Forfarshire whose bodies were found and buried in the parish Churchyard. They included two children, James and Matilda Dawson, aged 8 and 6. According to the article in the newspaper, Berwick Advertiser, Sarah Dawson and her two children had been visiting her husband who was working in Hull. They were returning home to Dundee when the vessel sank. Sarah Dawson was rescued but she saw both her children drowned close by without being able to reach or help them.
