Animating the Manor - Learning Resources
Access the learning content below to follow the steps of our Animating the Manor workshop. Each section covers a separate part of the workshop and gives important contextual information such as looking at what Manors and Manorial documents are.
Sections contain PowerPoint slides which can be used on the website or downloaded, along with downloadable images, interactive activities with classroom suggestions.
Learning resources are intended to be used by Key Stage 2, and have been used with Years 3-6 in workshops delivered by Northumberland Archives.
Many example documents are from the Manor of Hexham. Additional documents for other locations can be found on the images & transcripts page of our website, by searching our online catalogue, or via the Northumberland Communities website.

This section looks at documents relating to Hexham marketplace to build a picture of why marketplaces were important.

This section includes an extract from an oral history referencing the Lord of the Manor of Hexham, and provides a guide on how to do an oral history interview.

This practical session uses maps to look at the type of buildings found in the manor. The buildings are then constructed.
